Pro Life Statement

Discover Church believes we should protect and defend the most fundamental right of humankind, the right to life.  The most innocent of all is the child in the mother’s womb.

The Declaration of Independence, states that we are all “created equal” and endowed by our Creator “with certain unalienable Rights” that among these are Life…” Our Founding Fathers emphasized the preeminence of the right to “Life” by citing it first among the unalienable rights this nation was established to secure.

In saying that, whether the unborn child should live or die, is not a political issue, but a Biblical issue.

The word Abortion is not directly found anywhere in the Bible. That does not mean that abortion is advocated in Christianity.  One only has to read the Psalms to know that God cares about the unborn and wishes for us to do the same. “Truly children are a gift from the Lord; the fruit of the womb is a reward” (Psalm 127:3). Or how about Psalm 139:13,15, “You knit me in my mother’s womb … nor was my frame unknown to you when I was made in secret”.  Isaiah 44:2, “Thus says the Lord who made you, who formed you from the womb….”     Jer 1:4, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you…”  God also helps and calls the pre-born child. “You have been my guide since I was first formed … from my mother’s womb you are my God” (Psalm 22:10-11).

Throughout history the family has been the foundation of civilization.  Defenseless children are protected by adults, until they become adults to bear and protect the next generation of children.  Values, ethics, and work habits are best learned in the home.

You are the product of countless generations that preceded you.  You are the link in a chain of ancestors which extends back to the beginning of mankind.  Your child will be the next link in this chain.  The next generation begins one child at a time within each family.  The greatest accomplishment any man or woman can achieve is to love, protect, and raise a child to adulthood.  All other endeavors pale in importance to our generation preparing worthy men and women for the next generation.

The family, the most important asset of any nation, is being dismantled before our eyes.  This year in America, abortionists will destroy more than one million future families—future moms and dad, future scientists, teachers, leaders, and workers.  In the process, more than one million women—the moms of these aborted babies—will be left grieving, experiencing strong loss and guilt; many will become estranged from God and their own families.

Discover Church is pro-life because we have a duty to mourn for the millions upon millions of human beings who never had the chance to see the world, who never had the chance to experience love, who never had the chance to live.  We are pro-life because we believe it is imperative that we support LIFE for the unborn and therefore innocent child.
